Stepping Stone
Living in Armagh House was a great experience for me. Here are some of the reasons why I feel so.
Having come from an abusive background and after living in a shelter for over 2 months, Armagh was a beautiful place for me. The staff really cared for the well-being and comfort of the women. From the time I stepped in there, I felt welcome. The apartment was neat and clean with all the basic things I needed and was very well taken care of. They made sure we didn't have to worry about almost anything. In Armagh there was always someone to talk to, for anything that I needed. I felt important. Having lived many years with a person who didn't really care for me or my feelings, Armagh made me feel secure with my son, at a time when I had literally no one to call my own in Canada. It gave me a beautiful chance to think about my feelings and a chance to discuss them with someone who was always there to listen and understand me. Having led a very stressful life for many years, I could unwind and be myself once again. I truly enjoyed and benefited from the various workshops that were organized for us. There were workshops to understand abuse and violence and how to deal with its effects, workshops to help us learn about our inherent skills so that we could choose the right career. I felt pampered there and wondered many times, as to what I did to deserve all this. My stay in Armagh has enriched my life. I met some amazingly devoted people. It was exactly what I needed. Although my stay there was very brief, the experience strengthened me immensely and helped me be able to make some important decisions in my life soon after I left. Armagh was the stepping stone for me to face the real world! Thanks Armagh, You will always have a special place in my heart!
