More Than A Shelter

1) Life before shelter was no life at all. I was going through so much abuse physical..mental..financial...sexual and emotional abuse after abuse.

2) Life in Armagh was a feeling of security a feeling that I am not alone and that someone was there all the time when I felt I needed to talk my heart out.

I was always afraid to be alone and to live alone but living in Armagh it taught me how to be independent and how to see yourself before others when it came to taking care of yourself.

3) The difference between shelters and living in Armagh is

Shelter: There is a time limit to everything...on when you should sleep and what time you should be out and about or up out of your bed and doing chores around the shelter and in the shelter.

Everyone has a chore to do even though if you are not well.

I never had my privacy there because someone was always listening to my conversations and too much gossips and fights and arguments.

No one from the office was there to seriously hear you and to hear what is it that is bothering you.

I never felt safe in a shelter.

Armagh: Living in Armagh taught me a lot.

Armagh's staff I cannot stop talking about how great and loving..respectful and how encouraging they all are.

I felt very comfortable living at armagh...never felt I was not safe and never felt like there was not anyone there when I needed to talk to someone.

My caseworker Jessica Adams was my true spirit my guardian angel and my everyday to day encouragement.

She was very helpful to everything I needed to have done from my paper work to everything. The staff at Armagh was always full of smiles and so positive. Jessica taught me how to smile and how to appreciate the small things to everything and anything.

I felt very positive and started to feel very strong about my decisions about my life and thanks to Amargh and it's staff.

4) Since I left Armagh I feel positive...strong and appreciate life more now then I ever did when I was in the shelters..but Armagh taught me well and that is why I am happy and stable in life where I have a job and live in a basement apartment and live a normal life.....but Thanks to Armagh you have changed my life for the better and I would do anything for Armagh if I could.

Thank you soooo much and it is a gift that every women should experience living in Armagh and feel what I felt.
